How Much Do Coding Classes for Kids Cost? What You Should Get for Your Money

Coding class prices vary widely, from free apps to expensive long-term packages. Rather than comparing headline numbers, it's more useful to understand what drives the cost and what you actually get per hour of your child's learning.

What drives the price of coding classes

• 1:1 or group. One-to-one classes cost more per class than group classes, but every minute is spent on your child. In a group of six, your child gets a fraction of the trainer's attention. See 1:1 vs group coding classes.
• Live or recorded. Recorded video courses are cheapest, but nobody is there when your child gets stuck, which is when most children give up.
• Class length. Compare the price per hour, not per class. A 45-minute class and a 60-minute class are not the same product.
• Package size. Big up-front packages often look cheaper per class, but lock you in before you know whether your child enjoys it.
• Course-based pricing. Some providers charge more for "advanced" subjects like AI. Ask whether the price changes when your child moves on.

3. The minimum commitment: how much you pay before you can stop.

Questions that reveal hidden costs

• Is there a free trial, and do you need card details to book it?
• Are there registration, material or software fees?
• Does the price change for different courses or levels?
• What happens if my child misses a class? Is it lost?
• What's the refund policy, in writing?

Be wary of prices shown crossed out against a "standard" price that nobody pays, countdown timers that restart every visit, and pressure to decide on the first call.
